I’m not talking about food here…tho I wish I was. I love to eat!
I’m talking about the plate of life. My husband and I had taken on too much the past 2 1/2 years for our young growing family to handle and for our own energy level! On top of my husband working full time, he was a full time youth minister at our church. That means we had teens over to our house, we went to their sporting events plus we had youth group every Sunday nights!
We also babysat two kids during the week on top of having our son at home. I say WE because Garrett helped me watch all the kids, so I could go to my part time job in the morning! Boy is he a keeper!
Then you add in our own family’s actives, dance class, tball, school. 1st grade homework was no joke ya’ll! And did I mention I was pregnant for the last 6 months of our busyness and my husband works midnights?! I was exhausted. My husband needed sleep. And our kiddos were starting to feel the stress of the hustle and bustle of it all.
Needless, to say we had over done it and we needed to take items off the table. We knew what needed to change but it was hard to say no and not feel the guilt of letting others down. We felt those teenagers needed us and it felt as though we were letting them down and our church down by stepping away from Youth Group. And saying no more to babysitting was hard also. The mothers had become good friends and we had provided a piece of mind to them, that their child was someone they trusted.
However, in the end, everyone was understanding and showed us much grace as we stepped down from these roles. This will be the first time that I will be a SAHM to only my kids. Starting over with baby #3. This blog is my new business. We have goals for our finances. Fitness lifestyle changes being made. I believe this is what you would call a new chapter in our lives and I’m calling it: Getting it together!
